New Artists at Greco Gallery

Dress designed and created by Dawn Patel.

The Fish Creek shop, Brilliant Stranger, closed its doors in the fall of 2013 and owner Dawn Patel has been industriously building a new business as an artist and maker. Joining Sturgeon Bay’s Greco Gallery as a member artist this spring, Patel has opened a pop-up shop within the gallery, debuting the 2015 line of Brilliant Stranger wearable art, prints and paintings. This year’s creations include hand-painted and altered dresses, bibs, shirts and skirts for the boho-gypsy-country-girl-art lover, and “jotbOts,” a new line of handmade clothing, dolls and puppets for kids.

Local Luthier Dale Kumbalek is also new to Greco Gallery. Kumbalek’s one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted steel string, classical and bass guitars are on display, and he is available on short notice for customers who are interested in handling and playing his creations, and learning more about the shop and custom orders. His guitars will also be played by local musicians George Sawyn, Nick Hoover and Jessica Holland at Greco’s upcoming June open house. Kumbalek may be contacted at [email protected] and 920.737.7885.

Greco Gallery is located at 24 N. Third Ave. in downtown Sturgeon Bay. Regular hours are from 10 am to 5 pm Thursdays, 10 am to 5:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 am to 2 pm Sundays. For more information, call 920.743.5000 or go to grecogallerycoop.com.
