New Creative Music Series Announced in Sturgeon Bay

BEGIN is a new creative music series held in the studio above The Artists Guild in Sturgeon Bay. Organized by William Bradley and Jon Mueller, the series will feature nationally and internationally known artists working in improvised and other creative approaches to sound and instrumentation.

Musician Matt Turner opens the music series Dec. 9 at 7 pm.

The aim of BEGIN is to engage the community in events that accentuate the decisions and actions of the creative process within live performance. These experiences will hopefully inspire new perspectives and ideas for each individual within their own creative disciplines and even their daily lives.

BEGIN starts with Matt Turner Dec. 9 at 7 pm.

Cellist, pianist and composer Turner currently teaches in the Jazz & Improvisational Music Department at Lawrence University and has performed in Europe, Asia and Canada. Turner, a Yamaha Performing Artist, has performed on over 100 recordings. He currently performs and records with Hal Rammel, Bill Carrothers’ Armistice 1918 ensemble, Randy Sabien, Karmadog and with the Jean-Marc Foltz Trio.

The series is limited to 40 seats per event and no advance tickets will be available. A suggested donation of $10 at the door will go directly to the performing artist. The series will be held in the upper studio of The Artists Guild, 215 N. Third Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. Entry to the studio is through the far right door on the front of the building, up the stairs to the second floor.
