New Kayak Launch in Sturgeon Bay

A very special celebration of water is scheduled for Sept. 10. The Leadership Door County (LDC) Class of 2018 will dedicate Leadership Landing, a community kayak launch and educational platform with a  Kayak “Launch” Party. The community is invited to join LDC members 5-6 pm to celebrate the completion of this project.

Everyone is also invited to join the Friends of Crossroads for the Friends Work Party on Sept. 8 at 10 am. Help chip away at the invasive species around Big Creek. Meet at the Hanson House on Utah Street. No experience necessary but work gloves and water are suggested.

The Door Peninsula Astronomical Society also hosts a “Viewing Night” on Sept. 4 at 8 pm. The Leif Everson Observatory and the StarGarden will open for night sky viewing if it is a clear evening. Viewing begins at dusk. Meet at the Astronomy Campus, 2200 Utah Street.

Crossroads is a donor-supported learning center made up of three preserves. The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan, in Sturgeon Bay is open 2-4 pm daily and during scheduled events. Trails in all three preserves are free and open to the public. Bicycles and pets (on leash and under control) are permitted on the trails. The Collins Learning Center will be closed Saturday through Monday of Labor Day weekend. The Collins Learning Center is located at 2041 Michigan Street, just east of the roundabout in Sturgeon Bay.
