New Name Coming for Visitor Bureau

The Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB) is getting a makeover for 2020. At its annual meeting Oct. 28, President and CEO Jack Moneypenny announced that the organization is in the process of changing its name to Destination Door County.

“‘Bureau’ is becoming an obsolete term in our industry,” Moneypenny said. “It’s very much a governmental-body type of word. Destination Door County speaks not only to visitors but to locals as well.”

The DCVB was known as the Door County Chamber of Commerce until room tax was instituted in 2006, when the name was changed to more closely align it with the organization’s core purpose of attracting visitors.

“People will start seeing the name now, and it will get a full unveiling and rollout with a new logo in May at the Tourism Week Breakfast,” Moneypenny said.
