New President of Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association

Door County Register of Deeds Carey Petersilka is the new president of the Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association (WRDA). Petersilka will serve a one-year term and is the first Register of Deeds from Door County to serve in this role. As president, she represents the 72-member organization and makes sure all the provisions of the constitution and bylaws are strictly enforced, that all resolutions and orders adopted by the association at its meetings are promptly executed, and shall have general supervising control of the affairs of the association. The president also runs the meetings and conferences. Prior to being elected president she was the 1st vice president and legislative co-chair for the WRDA. Petersilka has been the Door County Register of Deeds since 2005. Her office handles more than $780,000 in real estate transfer fees, she manages a $440,000 budget and keeps track of real estate related documents and vital records such as birth, death, domestic partnership and marriage records. Petersilka has served on the Legislative, Resolutions and Audit Committees, as well as the chair for District 3 for five years within the WRDA organization. She also serves on the Wisconsin County Constitutional Officer’s board and is a member of the Wisconsin Counties Association and Wisconsin Land Information Association.
