New Program at Boys and Girls Club

Starting in January 2015, The Boys & Girls Club of Door County is offering a newly developed social-emotional learning program coordinated by the club’s After School Program Site Coordinator Jessica Adams. The goal of the Alternative Learning Empowerment Center (ALEC) is to employ a strengths-based approach when dealing with behavioral issues. This program is being piloted with students in kindergarten through second grade.

“We have been striving to develop a means to work with our members in a positive manner when they are being disruptive, disrespectful or defiant,” said Adams. “We are also trying to address issues of more significance such as abusive language, fighting and physical aggression.”
