New Quilt Designs at Jacksonport Craft Cottage

Scotty Dogs is a new crib quilt pattern available at the Jacksonport Craft Cottage.

Sue and Joe Jarosh, owners of the Jacksonport Craft Cottage, recently returned from their annual spring trip to visit the Amish. The 3,500-mile drive took them to families in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

While in Pennsylvania the couple stayed near Lancaster in the home of their Amish friends, Anna and Reuben Lapp, and experienced life with the Amish for several days. Sue was privileged to accompany Anna to an Amish quilting bee.

From Pennsylvania Sue and Joe continued to Ohio where they gathered other Amish quilts, wall hangings, table runners and placemats. Handmade brooms and cake testers came from the home of Eli Hershberger in Indiana; quilts came from homes in Iowa; rugs came from a home in Wisconsin; and baskets came from the home of Emma and Sam Swartzberger in Minnesota.

A newly found quilter who specializes in crib sized quilts that feature old favorite patterns will be featured at the craft cottage. All these crib quilts come with a sleeve so they can also be used as wall hangings.

The Jacksonport Craft Cottage, open daily from 9 am – 5 pm, is located at 6275 Highway 57 in Jacksonport. For more information call 920.823.2288 or visit http://www.jacksonportcraftcottage.com.
