NEW SUPERVISOR SELECTED FOR DISTRICT 9

Door County – The Door County Board of Supervisors has filled its District 9 seat. Rodney Beardsley is an electrical engineer who moved from his home near Denver about six years ago to take a job with Hatco. He lives in Sturgeon Bay with his wife and two school-aged children and has never held office.

“I found out about the opportunity, and I wanted to serve my community and see how I can be a help and make a positive impact,” he said.

As chair of the Door County Board of Supervisors, Dave Lienau nominates candidates to fill vacancies. The board then approves his recommendation. Lienau said only two people applied for the seat, and he selected Beardsley as the better of the two applicants.

Beardsley has been assigned to the Legislative, Public Safety, Risk Management & Insurance, County Ambassador and Citizen Participation for the Community Development Block Grant committees.

Laura Vlies Wotachek resigned the seat June 17. The deadline for applicants to apply to fill the vacancy was extended once from July to Aug. 16. District 9 encompasses Wards 5-6 and 22-24 within the City of Sturgeon Bay.
