New York Jewelry Artist Displays

Ephraim’s Fine Line Designs Gallery announces a trunk show featuring jewelry artist Keith Lewis will be held July 6 – 8. The gallery will have the full collection of his work of modern, colorful, kinetic-inspired jewelry created in his small studio in the Hudson River Valley.

Long before he began creating jewelry, Lewis was a six-year-old collecting bits of broken glass and corn silk from his parent’s garden. “I thought they looked like gold and diamonds,” he says.

Lewis earned an MFA degree in Goldsmithing from SUNY New Paltz, New York. Thirty years later, he consistently strives to create what he hopes is his customers’ “favorite jewelry.”

Lewis’s work explores the line between accident and control, which he achieves by manipulating the inherent qualities of natural materials. Constructing his pieces from a diverse palette of materials such as amber mica, natural pearls, precious stones, and 23K gold leaf, he contrasts formal construction with unexpected surface treatments.

Nearly everything one finds on a piece of Lewis’s jewelry is made to enhance movement. Lewis’s jewelry is made to enhance movement, and this concept is at the heart of all of Lewis’s designs. He says his jewelry pieces are “simple shape in a kinetic format.”
