Newport State Park Hosts a Pair of Workshops

On March 25, Newport State Park is hosting a pair of workshops.

At 10 am, Charlotte Lukes will lead a Bluebird Workshop and she’ll talk about bluebirds and their remarkable comeback story. As a member of the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin, Lukes has many years of experience monitoring and collecting data about bluebirds. The group will also place bluebird nesting boxes, weather permitting.

The other workshop, “Milkweed For Monarchs” begins at 2 pm. This hands-on workshop is focused on preparing milkweed seeds for planting. Monarch populations have declined in recent years. Loss of habitat and reduction of milkweed plays a crucial role in their survival. Guests will be able to take home seeds to plant.

If interested in either of these workshops, meet at the Nature Center, Lot 1. Newport State Park is located at 475 County Highway NP in Ellison Bay.
