Newport State Parks Welcomes Spring with Two March Events

Newport State Park is holding a pair of March events that welcome in the spring season.

On March 18 at 1:30 pm, Charlotte Lukes will lead “Bluebirds in Door County.” Lukes will present a slideshow and explain the success story of the Eastern Bluebird in Wisconsin. Along with all aspects of bluebird monitoring, she will talk about BRAW (Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin, Inc.) and how you can get involved. Lukes is a naturalist, conservationist and steward, as was her late husband Roy. Meet in the Visitor’s Center. The program is free, but a state park sticker is required.

On March 20 at 10 am, celebrate the season with the First Day of Spring Hike. Hikers will look for signs of spring, no matter the weather. Hikers should meet at the Nature Center, Lot 1. The trail will be chosen that morning, depending on conditions.
