Newport Wilderness Society Celebrates 25 Years

The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor continues its summer Thursday lecture series on July 22 with “Newport Wilderness Society Celebrates 25 Years” presented by Dr. William Scheckler. The 7 pm presentation will take place at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. Donations are welcome.

Scheckler, a founder, past president, and current member of the Newport Wilderness Society (NWS) Board of Directors will discuss the history of the NWS, volunteers that assist park staff in many ways.

“Lake Lessons” sponsored by The Ridges Sanctuary are held each Thursday through August 12. Upcoming programs include: July 29, “Butterflies and Moths of The Ridges and Door County;” August 5, “Wisconsin Wildlife: A Status Update;” and August 12, “Mosquitoes: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”
