  • Feb. 5 – 19

    • Crystal Burke of Sevastopol High School won the 2010 Miss Door County Crown at the Southern Door Community Auditorium Feb. 12. Six young women were awarded $12,500 in scholarship money at the event.

  • Feb. 19 – March 5

    • The League of Women Voters of Door County is sponsoring a candidate forum for the four candidates running for Baileys Harbor Town Supervisor. The forum is Tuesday, March 2 from 7 – 9 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.

  • Big County Schools Competing for Students

    The two biggest school districts in Door County are no longer competing with each other only on sports fields and with academic teams. Southern Door School District and Sturgeon Bay School District are now competing publicly for students and the tax dollars that follow those students through the open enrollment process.

    Sturgeon Bay voters have chosen Thad Birmingham and Barbara Allmann to square off in the race to become the city’s next mayor. Birmingham received 425 votes to lead balloting in last night’s primary election, while Allman garnered 354.
