Nick Kraus Takes Red Jacket in Red Putter Pro Tourney

Nick Kraus, of Menomonee Falls and Sister Bay, scored a three-round total of 108 to become the 2018 Red Putter Pro Tournament champion.
Kraus went home with the championship trophy, $2,000, and the coveted red jacket. All six members of the Kraus family have played in the tournament but Nick, age 17, is the first to bring home the red jacket.
Three players tied for second at 109, requiring a playoff. That was won by former champion Paul Nelson of Sister Bay, who stared Badger square in the eyes before acing the intimidating third hole. Matthew McCaslin, another former champion, beat out Gary Hester for the third place trophy. Last year’s champion James Sullivan finished just two strokes back.
Tim Tally had the best single round of 32.
Next year’s tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019.  Players can now qualify for next year’s tournament by shooting under par on the course.
