News from the Kewaunee and Algoma Public Libraries: Effective June 1, 2021, overdue fines will not accrue on children’s and teens’ print materials, no matter the age of the person checking out the materials.
The libraries seek to remove reading barriers to help increase childhood literacy and improve library access for youth. Patrons will still be charged for lost or damaged items, however.
The Algoma Public Library is looking for teens’ help through virtual Teen Advisory Group meetings on Google Meet, during which local teens can brainstorm ideas with the young-adult librarian for programs, clubs and services they would like to see. Teens who sign up (required), attend and contribute to the discussion and brainstorming may claim one hour of volunteer time. Sign up by emailing [email protected]
