No Injuries from Structure Fire

No one was injured by a structure fire on the evening of July 24 at 10339 Hwy 57 in Sister Bay. Firefighters responded around 11:30 pm to find a fire involving personal effects in the basement, said Chris Hecht, Sister Bay/Liberty Grove fire chief. 

Firefighters confined the fire to the basement and extinguished the flames with about 150 gallons of water. The fire caused minor damage to the basement area and significant damage to personal property, Hecht said. He said there was nothing suspicious about the fire, which began in the basement, though the cause remains unknown at this time. 

The primary use of the structure is a single-family residence with some business space. Crews cleared the scene by 2:30 am. The Baileys Harbor, Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Gibraltar and Jacksonport fire departments and Door County Emergency Services provided mutual aid.
