Do you know a hunter whose actions have impressed you? Was the hunter kind, courteous, respectful, responsible or a moral compass in action? Consider nominating this person for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ annual Wisconsin Hunter Ethics Award.
Established in 1997, the award recognizes a hunter whose actions symbolize Wisconsin’s hunting heritage: not trophy bucks or the number of pheasants, but an outdoor tradition enjoyed responsibly, respectfully and safely, by and for all.
Anyone may nominate a licensed Wisconsin hunter for the award for an action that took place during calendar year 2019. Many nominations are made during gun deer season, but the ethical action could have occurred during any Wisconsin hunting season.
Submit nominations explaining the ethical act to April Dombrowski by email at [email protected] or by standard mail to the Department of Natural Resources, Attn: April Dombrowski, 101 S. Webster St., P.O. Box 7921, Madison, WI 53707-7921. The nomination deadline is Feb. 14. Nominations must contain the name, address and telephone number of the witness(es) or the person who is aware of the behavior that led to the nomination.
