Northern Door Children’s Center Introduces Parenting University

Parenting University is a new program launching at Northern Door Children’s Center in 2014. It is a series of practical, educational experiences for parents interested in learning more about the growth, development, learning, and behavior of their children. Parenting U will focus on topics of interest for parents of children ages birth-age 8.

The first installment of Parenting University takes place on Thursday, Jan. 30, 6:30 to 8 pm at Northern Door Children’s Center, 10520 Judith Blazer Drive, Sister Bay. Join veteran educator Karen Corekin as she presents “Your Attention Please: Guiding Children’s Behavior with the Power of Attention”.

This session, in cooperation with the Family center offers strategies and practical skills that parents need to help their young children learn to have respectful, cooperative, and meaningful interactions with family, peers, and other adults. The presentation offers techniques that parents can take home and use immediately for guiding their children’s behavior.

There will be ample time for sharing information and discussion in a supportive, comfortable atmosphere. All interested parents and adults are welcome. Child care is not offered during the session.
