Northern Door Children’s Center’s Cindy Trinkner-Peot Receives 2016 Outstanding Service Award

Cindy Trinkner-Peot, executive director of Northern Door Children’s Center (NDCC), was honored Oct. 14, 2016, by the Wisconsin Division for Early Childhood (WDEC) and the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA) with an Above and Beyond: Outstanding Service Award for 2016. The ceremony took place at a special awards luncheon at the Green Bay Hyatt, during the WECA annual conference.

The Outstanding Service Award is designed to acknowledge the career of a professional who is making a lasting impact on early childhood education in a region of the state or statewide.

In her introduction to the award, Michelle Ogorek, incoming WDEC president, said the following about Trinkner-Peot, “Our awardee has changed the culture and understanding of early childhood education in Door County. Her extremely high level of professionalism, care, and compassion is deserving of the Outstanding Service Award.”

Some of the accomplishments that contributed to her winning the award include: instituting an Infant/Toddler Looping program, now in its 15th year, creating major fundraising events that bring down the cost of early care and education for all NDCC families by 25 percent, working with local churches to create a thriving scholarship fund for families in need, and leading the development of cutting edge preschool and four-year-old kindergarten programs.
