Destroyers Stay Strong on the Road

On Saturday, June 25, the Door County Destroyers traveled to Wauwatosa to take on the Chargers of Milwaukee County. Both defenses dominated the game, not allowing the offenses to get going. The Destroyers opened it up in the third quarter with some timely turnovers leading to points and never looked back, winning the game 25-13 and moving to 2-0 on the season.

The following were standout performers of the June 25 game: Offense – Andre Wilson caught 3 passes for 71 yards and 1 touchdown; Eric Natwick was 2-2 on extra points, 1-2 on field goals with a long of 37 yards; Defense – Chris LeCloux had a big game with 10 total tackles, 4 for loss, 4 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception; Donny Johnson created 9 total tackles, 3 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery; Bryan Beachler was all over the field and tallied 8 total tackles, 2 for loss, 2 sacks and returned a blocked kick for a touchdown; and Dylan Waupoose was a force in the middle with 3 total tackles, 2 for loss, 2 sacks, 2 pass deflections, 1 safety and 2 blocked kicks.

Next up for the Destroyers is a July 9 game in Racine against the Racine Raiders. Their next home game is July 16 against the Sheboygan County Rebels at the Baileys Harbor Rec Park. The game starts at 4 pm. For more information visit doorcountydestroyers.com.
