Northwoods Nightcap at AFT

Northwoods Nightcap, the popular music-and-humor variety hour at American Folklore Theatre (AFT), will have its final performance of the year on August 15 at 10 pm at the Peninsula State Park amphitheater.

Hosted by AFT co-founder Doc Heide and long-time company member Lee Becker, this Nightcap will feature performances by Jeffrey Herbst, Eric Lewis, Monica Heuser, Amber Alley and Gerald Pelrine, as well as a special appearance by Ernie the Moocher.

A few highlights of the evening will be Herbst, AFT’s artistic director, performing the Fred Alley Song of the Week. Presenting a song by Janis Joplin will be Heuser, who recently won the prestigious Ivey Award for her title role in Love, Janis at the Ordway Theatre Center in Saint Paul, and Lewis, who has toured with Robin and Linda Williams of Prairie Home Companion, is well-known to Door County audiences for his sellout shows at the Fishstock Concert Series and other venues. Also, Pelrine will do a comic monologue he originally performed 25 years ago in Badger 49ers, a Gold Rush show presented by AFT’s predecessor troupe the Heritage Ensemble. Amber Alley, who is niece to Fred Alley, will deliver a song titled “Land of the Ever Young” from Malarkey!, an AFT show about the Irish in America written by Alley and Heide. Ernie the Moocher (Lee Becker), the colorful character from AFT’s Guys on Ice, is scheduled to present a press conference at Northwoods Nightcap to announce his run for the Presidency.
