Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tidbits of information about goings on in Town Government.

Quick reminders: During Town Hall remodeling and new construction the Town Offices are in their temporary location at the North Fire Station. Town and Committee meetings are being held at the Ellison Bay Community Center. Please check the calendar on the Town Web Site for times and possible location changes. With the exception of posted closed sessions all meeting are open to the public.

• Janet reports that the new Town Web site is awaiting the change from our current host to the new host. It should be up any day.

• The Plan Commission will not meet on September 7 in observation of Labor Day.

• The September meetings of the Town Board will be Wednesday, September 9 and Wednesday, September 23.

• Work continues on the hall/shop project. The overhead wires have been removed and the floor paved on the north end. Steel will be going up there shortly. The walls are being enclosed on the south end with foam insulation being placed. Bids for paving around the building have been opened with Northeast Asphalt being the lone bidder. A base course will be installed this fall with the finished lift placed next summer. This bid will be acted on at a special board meeting.

• Bids for the post office renovation were also opened, with two bids being received. Both were extremely close – they will be compared for accuracy and completeness and the Board acted on these bids at a special meeting on Thursday, September 3. The bids did come in lower than expected. Construction will depend on the USPS decision on the bid cost that the Board sends them.

• The Plan Commission will continue its review of the Comprehensive Plan at its next meeting on September 21 at 7 pm. Chapter 8, Land Use, is next on the list.

• The Highway Committee is awaiting an estimate to design sidewalks and parking between Hill and Waters End roads, in addition to reconfiguring the west side of the Waters End and Highway 42 intersection.
