Notes from the Grove

• Supervisor Anne Miller has received word from Frank Busalacchi, Secretary of the Wisconsin Dept of Transportation (WisDOT), that he has approved the application submitted by the Town of Liberty Grove for the proposed Door County Coastal Byway as an Official Wisconsin Scenic Byway. This is a major accomplishment for Supervisor Miller, Supervisor Forkert and the rest of the committee.

• The town board by resolution has declared Thursday, May 13 as Tourism Day in Liberty Grove. It is estimated that tourism in Door County generated $483.9 million dollars in 2008. The resolution is posted on the Town Web Site.

• The town board also has passed a resolution stating its intent to remain a member of the Door County Tourism Zone Commission after January 1, 2012.

• A reminder that the IT Committee has extended an invitation to Internet Service providers to participate in a meeting on April 29, 7 pm, at the Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting, which is open to the public, is to learn what plans the various providers have to extend broadband Internet service in the town.
