Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• The remodeling of the Ellison Bay Post Office is well underway. Bud had been taking photos of the project for Janet to post on the town website.

• Door County Public Health will be providing flu shots on October 22 from 11:30 am – 1 pm at the Town Hall. Medicare B cardholders need to present their card for a no cost shot. For other adults the cost is $30.

• The Door County Unit of the Wisconsin Town’s Association heard a presentation by Miller Engineers and Scientists on road maintenance and construction using bio infiltration systems. The meeting was held at the Town Hall on September 23. The presentation focused on water drainage away from the road surfaces to prevent damage and prolong the life of paved roads.

• Quick reminders: Town Park public restrooms will close the third week of October. The final budget hearing will be Monday November 15 beginning at 6 pm. Committees are at work on their budgets. Their meetings are open to the public. Please check the town website for times and dates. The adjourned Board of Review will meet prior the October 20 regular board meeting. One objection is under consideration.

• The Waterfront Committee heard several presentations regarding the launch ramp and park at Garrett Bay. They will be working in junction with the Parks and Properties Committee on a plan. They have been asked to develop a data base of all public water access places in the town with photos and descriptions. This will be used as they develop long range plans for these access points. Parks and Properties Committee will also be asked to develop a data base. In a number of cases the committees will be working together as water access exists with a park attached.
