Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• The property tax bills have been prepared and sent. The overall property taxes for Liberty Grove, from all taxing entities, will decrease by $2.74 for a home valued at $100,000. This applies to those living outside of the Utility District. Those living within the Utility District will see their tax bill decrease by $2.67 for a home valued at $100,000. Additional information is available by contacting the town office. The Town Hall will be open from 9 am – noon on Friday, December 31 for those wishing to pay their taxes.

• The tax levy for the town is set by the electors at the Special Town Meeting following the Budget Hearing. The Finance Committee and board propose the budget but the final levy is set by the electors.

• The IT Committee has included a brief survey with the tax bills regarding high-speed internet service within the town. A link on the town website is also available for those wishing to participate in the survey.

• The remodeling of the Ellison Bay Post Office is on schedule.

• The Highway Committee has considered three options from Graef Engineering regarding the proposed improvement along Highway 42 near the intersection of Waters End Road, Beach Road and Highway 42. They are sending their recommendation to the town board. Michael Lefebvre was present at their last meeting to discuss and answer any questions. Additional information is available at the town office.

• A reminder that the Town Hall will close at noon on December 23 and remain closed until December 27.
