Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• The Town Board has sent the proposal of The ROM Group to our Economic Sustainability Committee for further study.

• The new contract with Going Garbage will allow recycling of plastic containers #3-7 as long as market conditions are favorable. A separate bin is available at the Going Garbage drop off site.

• Information received from the county indicates Door, Oneida and Vilas Counties are considerably ahead of other counties in the upgrading or replacing of sanitary systems. Door County was the first county to require that systems be evaluated at the time of sale and upgraded if necessary. The town has taken an aggressive approach in the evaluation of systems as we are in the process with the County Sanitarians Office to evaluate systems within the town.

• In 2008, 434 Sanitary Permits were issued in Door County. In 2009, 488 and in 2010, 443. In 2010, there were 72 new systems and 371 replacement systems.

• The Town Board has appointed Supervisor Forkert and Peter Sauer to represent the town in the ongoing negotiations with Sister Bay on the Waste Water Treatment Agreement.

• The town along with the Villages of Ephraim and Sister Bay has received proposed detour routes during the reconstruction/paving of Highway 42. The DOT has asked for input regarding the routes from the governmental units. Indications are the project will take place during 2013.
