Novel Ideas Welcomes Back Wisconsin Author Lesley Kagen

On Saturday, September 13 at 2 pm, Wisconsin author Lesley Kagen will return to Novel Ideas Bookstore in Baileys Harbor for a reading and book signing for her new book, Land of A Hundred Wonders.

In this new release, main character Gibby McGraw, brain damaged after a tragic car accident that took both her parents, is NQR (Not Quite Right), a real challenge for a fledgling newspaper reporter – especially when she stumbles upon the dead body of the next governor of Kentucky.

Kagen’s bestselling first novel, Whistling in The Dark, takes place in Milwaukee in the summer of 1959. It came out in May of 2007 and received the Honor Book Award from the Midwest Booksellers Association.

Kagen was born in Milwaukee, but moved to Los Angeles, where she began a 10-year career working for Licorice Pizza record chain. She produced, wrote and voiced thousands of commercials as Lesley from Licorice Pizza.

Now back in Milwaukee, Kagen and her husband have been running Restaurant Hama, a sushi restaurant, for the last 10 years.
