Nutrient Management Workshop Offered

The Door County Soil & Water Conservation Department and UW-Extension will be hosting a workshop to teach farmers/landowners how to prepare their own nutrient management plans. The workshop will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3 from 8 am – 3 pm in the Peninsula Room on the first floor of the Door County Government Center located at 421 Nebraska Street in Sturgeon Bay.

A nutrient management plan is a document used to plan cropping, tillage, and nutrient applications on cropland. Nutrient management planning is a way for farmers to match crop yield potential with nutrient inputs, thereby maximizing yield and profit potential while minimizing or avoiding significant negative environmental impact.

Some farms are required through Door County Ordinance to develop and follow a nutrient management plan; the workshop will show participants everything they need to know in order to develop a nutrient management plan themselves.

There is a limit to the number of participants that can attend. For more information and/or to reserve a spot, contact the Soil & Water office at 920.746.2214.
