Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) has been named a finalist for the 2018 American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Excellence Award for Advancing Diversity. The Awards of Excellence recognize the exceptional work among the nation’s two-year colleges.
At NWTC, one of College’s main values is “everyone has worth.” The value statement reads, “We are committed to embracing the worth of every staff member and student, creating a place for all people, and promoting the respectful environment necessary for intellectual and personal discovery.”
One of the most recent and visible aspects of NWTC’s continued commitment to creating a welcoming environment is the 2016 introduction of the iRespect campaign – aimed at promoting inclusion.
iRespect is a reimaged approach to embracing and respecting our differences, creating a welcoming and safe place for everyone and promoting the respectful environment that promotes knowledge, culture and positive relationships.
The Advancing Diversity winner will be announced at the annual AACC convention April 28 to May 1. A complete list of all the finalists is available at aacc21stcenturycenter.org. NWTC was a finalist for AACC Excellence Award in the Student Success category in 2016 and 2014.
