Nyberg Displays at TAP

The Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) lobby is now adorned with seven Tim Nyberg paintings. TAP’s managing director, James Valcq noticed Nyberg’s “Story Starter” series at his gallery and inquired if Nyberg had ever done set design. Nyberg answered affirmatively and mentioned that the construction of the canvases used in the series looked like little stages. Nyberg painted dioramic scenes and added plastic people to create images that reveal stories in progress.

Nyberg was delighted to oblige TAP’s request for the paintings. “They’ve cleaned up the lobby so nicely at TAP – but it was lacking something to amuse the patrons pre-show and during intermission. I believe this series of paintings will add to a positive theatre-going experience,” said Nyberg. “The rebirth of the back theatre (currently in progress) is absolutely inspiring to me as a theatre person – it reminds me of the black box theatre in my college. I’m honored to be a part of the evolving Third Avenue Playhouse.”

Bob Boles, artistic director of TAP, added, “This installation of Tim Nyberg’s wonderful, quirky and delightful art work is the first of what we hope to become a series of installations by Door County artists. Showcasing our county’s incredible artistic diversity is a big part of our mission here at TAP. And it makes our lobby look pretty swell too.”
