Obituary: Elaine Rosemary Cregan

Elaine Rosemary Cregan, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, died at her home on Dec. 5, 2016.  She was born on January 18, 1940, in Chicago, IL and lived on Arthington Street with an all Italian family until marrying Robert Cregan and moving to Milwaukee.

Helping people became mom’s lifelong passion.  She was a nurse at St. Luke’s hospital before becoming a nurse for school kids and finally for shipbuilders.  Mom’s greatest passion was painting, her natural ability got one of her watercolors in the Miller Art Center and she was an active member of the Door County Art League.  Mom taught watercolor classes out of her own home and went on to tutor kids with special school needs. She also loved and played music in her spare time along with astrology.  Mom loved Door County and her works of art captured her favorite scenes.

Elaine is survived by two sons, Emmett (Darcy) Cregan,  and Tom Cregan; one daughter, Carey Cregan; one granddaughter, Ellie Starr, all of Sturgeon Bay; one sister, Fran Underdown, Chicago.  She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jim Tarsitano.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 10, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Robert Stegmann officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.

Special thanks to Unity Hospice, Dr. Richard Hogan, Carey and Darcy for the amazing care mom got at home.
