Obituary: Andrew M. Ebel

Andrew M. Ebel, 44, of Green Bay, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, changed his address to Heaven on November 18, 2016.

A Door County native, Andy was born October 19, 1972 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Gregory Ebel and Suzanne Serrahn. Following his graduation from Sevastopol High School in 1990, he received a degree in Environmental Planning from UWGB. He furthered his education at UW-Milwaukee where he received his RN education. Andy then worked for the Emergency Room at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee before transferring to Children’s Hospital in Madison. He transferred to the Green Bay Red Cross and recently to Care Wisconsin where he was currently employed.

Andy dedicated his life to serving others, be it at the City of Milwaukee’s mapping department, nursing and caring for children at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee and Madison, saving lives with the Red Cross in Green Bay, and as case manager for Care Wisconsin.

He was a beautiful soul who devoted his life to his family. Andy worked tirelessly to teach his children the value of life.

He was a loving father who enjoyed his children, especially taking them to different museums, Lambeau Field, and other activities, teaching them, and watching them learn. Andy was an avid bow and gun hunter and fisherman who enjoyed fishing on his boat with his friends and brothers. He loved following and watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and was a big Ottawa Senators Hockey fan. Andy liked playing both softball and baseball. In high school, he was a state track athlete along with diving and cross country.

Andy is survived by his two children, Heatley and Phoebe Ebel; mother, Suzanne Serrahn of Sturgeon Bay; his father and step-mother, Greg (Sue) Ebel of Sturgeon Bay; four brothers and sister, Matt (Jessica) Ebel, Luke (Katy) Ebel, Zeb Ebel, all of Sturgeon Bay,Martha (Jose) Reinoso of Dubuque, IA, and Wade (Laura) Ebel of Sturgeon Bay.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Geraldine Ebel, Howard and Eugenia Serrahn; his niece, Sierra Ebel; and uncle, Russ Serrahn.

Friends may visit with Andrew’s family from 4:00 p.m. until 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. A service of remembrance will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Huehns Funeral Home with Fr. Carl Schmitt officiating.

Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.
