Obituary: Anthony R. ‘Tony’ Carstens

Anthony R. “Tony” Carstens, 83, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on March 17, 2017 at Oak Creek Assisted Living, Luxemburg.  He was born September 26, 1933 in Manitowoc to Louis and Olga (Huebner) Carstens.  He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

On September 10, 1960, he married Angeline “Angie” Nennig in Manitowoc.  They enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Tony farmed in the town of Nasewaupee for 42 years.  For a number of years he also worked as a machinist for Manitowoc Engineering Company and for Bay Shipbuilding.

Survivors include his wife, Angie; seven children, Ronald Carstens (fiancé Carol), Sturgeon Bay; Louis (Lynne) Carstens, Sturgeon Bay; Mary (Jerry) Young, Munsing, MI; Debra (William) Enigl, Luxemburg; Steven Carstens (significant other, Yvonne), Sturgeon Bay; David Carstens, Sturgeon Bay; and Karen Carstens, Luxemburg; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Daniel; two sisters, Dorothy Walmun and Deloris Walske; two brothers, Arthur and Raymond.

Funeral Services with military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Holy Name of Mary Church, Maplewood, with Rev. Anthony Birdsall officiating.  Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.  Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church until time of service.   A prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
