Obituary: Berwyn “Bub” John Lieffort

 August 14, 1932-August 19, 2020

Berwyn “Bub” or “BJ” John Lieffort, 88, of Vero Beach, FL and Sturgeon Bay, WI, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.

He was born in Green Bay, WI on August 14, 1932 to Cyril and Florence (Dionne) Lieffort. Bub served his country with the United States Air Force, entering into active duty on April 9, 1951 and was honorably discharged from the Air Force on January 24, 1955. He was united in marriage to Gladys Rose Neuser in 1959, and they were blessed with five children and 55 years of marriage.

Bub was an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay and St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach until his health no longer made it possible to attend in person. He loved softball, hunting, fishing, and all outdoor sports. Bub retired from IBM after a 30+ year career in data-processing and marketing.

He and Gladys enjoyed being snowbirds traveling between their homes in Vero Beach and Sturgeon Bay where they had many friends and family. Gladys was called Home to be with the Lord, June 23, 2014.

Bub will be missed by his four sons, Jim (Kathy) Lieffort of FL, Dave (Carol) Lieffort of Colfax, WI, Bob (Mary) Lieffort of FL, and Michael Lieffort (Kim) of FL; six loving grandchildren, Sierra and Dan (Kim) Lieffort [and their mother, Darlene Lieffort] of FL, Meghan, Heidi (Garrett), and Hunter (fianceé, Nathalie) Lieffort of Colfax, WI, and Madison [and her mother, Laura] of FL; four step-great grandchildren; brother, John (Elsa) Lieffort of FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Martha Lieffort; and one brother and sister-in-law, Fr. Robert and Sandra Lieffort of Sebastian, FL.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 7550 26th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32966.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John of the Cross Catholic Church (Rectory office at: 7590 26th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32966).

A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at St. Joseph Cemetery, 3737 Egg Harbor Road, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Fr. Robert Stegmann, of St. Joseph Parish, officiating. Military honors by the United States Air Force and the Weber-Tess AMVETS Post 51 will follow. Bub will be laid to rest in the cemetery, beside his wife, Gladys.

Those attending the graveside committal service are to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
