Obituary: Beth Nadine (Cornell) Cline

April 27, 1951 ~ October 9, 2020

Beth Nadine (Cornell) Cline of Lockport, Illinois was born April 27, 1951 to Charlotte and Byron Cornell on Washington Island, Wisconsin. She died October 9, 2020 in New Lenox, Illinois.

Beth spent her first 18 years on Washington Island enjoying Island activities such as sledding, skating, drag racing and pistol shooting. Beth attended Bethel Evangelical Free Church, attending Sunday school, frequently singing with her brother, Rodney and being confirmed. Beth attended Washington Island Schools and graduated in 1969. Last year, the Class of ’69 held their fiftieth class reunion which Beth enjoyed immensely. After graduation, Beth moved to Lockport, Illinois where she raised her two children, worked in a nursing home, and drove forklift at a grocery distribution warehouse.

Family was Beth’s greatest joy and satisfaction. She and her grandson Jamie, (with whom she shared a special love relationship) made frequent trips to Washington Island to attend family gatherings, not wanting to miss any. Beth was an excellent cook, preparing meals and canned items which were enjoyed by neighbors, friends, and family. Beth and husband Larry enjoyed time at flea markets and antique shops, searching for items to decorate her home, adding to the decor of sentimental items from her past. Beth was a gift giver, lavishly bestowing gifts to all she knew. Beth loved taking her granddaughter Morgan, to Sunday school.

Beth is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Tammy (Tom) Eymer; son, Duane (Jessica) Robison; step-children, Christal and Danny; grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Michael, Dylan, Darren, Olivia, Morgan; and one great-grandson, Andy of whom Beth was especially proud, showing pictures to all; sisters, Everall Jorgenson and Glenna (Don) Riewe; sister-in-law, Eileen Cornell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Beth will be greatly missed by all; some heart holes are just too big to fill.

Beth was preceded in death by infant son, David; her parents; brothers, Gilmore and Rodney; and brother-in-law, Chuck Jorgenson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, October 14, 2020 in Lockport at O’Neil Funeral Home with Pastor Gil Palmer of First Baptist Church officiating and on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. on Washington Island at Bethel Church with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. Burial to follow in Washington Island Cemetery next to her big brother, Rod.

The family thanks all for their prayers. Also, to the doctors and nurses of Silver Cross Hospital. O’Neil and Casperson Funeral Homes and the pastors.
