Obituary: Betty Jean Olson

Betty Jean Olson, 75, of Sturgeon Bay, died at her home on June 26, 2017.  She was born on December 1, 1941, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky to Woodson and Brooksie (Wells) Laster.  She graduated from Muhlenberg Central School in 1960.  On December 17, 1960, she married Ronald H. Olson, he preceded her in death on August 23, 2005.  Betty was a “crafty” woman who loved to sew, paint, and cook.  She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  Betty was a past member of the Homemaker’s Club, and Bay View Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, Eric (Katy) Olson, Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren, Connor (special friend, Felicia Melville) Olson, Nathan, Zachary, and Hailey Olson; siblings, Desma Burt, Oak Grove, KY; Dearlwood (Marilyn) Laster, Greenville, KY; James Drexell (Carrol) Laster, Elkton, KY; Judy (Bill) Alexander, Hopkinsville, KY; Donna (Ron) Weaver, Greenville, KY; Sherrell (Randy) Settle, Hopkinsville, KY; Carolyn (Tim) Settle, Central City, KY; Kathern (Jimmy) Fleming, Quality, KY; Ronald (Rita) Laster, Greenville, KY; Jeffrey (Vickie) Laster, Greenville, KY; Phillip (Cindy) Laster, Greenville, KY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald; parents-in-law, Howard and Lou Olson; one brother, Curtis Laster; infant sister, Mary Evelyn; one sister-in-law, Mona Orthober; one brother-in-law, Alford Burt.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Bay View Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Malek officiating.  Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Forbes Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
