Obituary: Betty Rose LaViolette

Betty Rose LaViolette, 85, of Little Sturgeon, died Aug. 7, 2017 in Green Bay.  She was born March 24, 1932 in Virginia, Minnesota to Philip and Celia (Morisette) Cumiskey.  On Feb. 3, 1951 she married Howard LaViolette at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Institute.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2011.

Betty served as treasurer for the Town of Gardner and worked in the county treasurer’s office for many years.  She was also secretary of the Stevenson Cemetery for over 30 years.

Betty and her husband enjoyed many years traveling around the country and wintering in Texas. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, and little dogs.  She especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include 2 children, Mike (Kaye) LaViolette and Sandra LaViolette, all of Brussels; 6 grandchildren: Cori, Sarah, Ezekiel, Zeph, Psalm, and Sammuel; 2 step-grandchildren, Trin and Ford; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 nephews, Charles and Harris LaViolette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Harris and Phenia LaViolette,  husband, 2 brothers, Thomas and James Cumiskey, 2 brothers-in-law, Wally and Harvey LaViolette, granddaughter Casey and 2 nieces Lauren O’Conner and Barbara Cumiskey.

aFuneral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday Aug. 10, 2017 at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.  Burial will be in Stevenson Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
