Obituary: Blake James Schartner

Blake James Schartner, 20, of Brussels, died on Sunday, December 6, 2020.

He was born January 25, 2000 in Green Bay, son of Michael John and Jenel Mary (Routhieaux) Schartner. Blake graduated from Southern Door High School with the Class of 2018. He attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, where he obtained his associates degree in diesel heavy equipment technology in the spring of 2020. While taking classes, he worked at Fabick CAT and NEW Industries. After he graduated, Blake began his career at Riesterer & Schnell as a diesel mechanic, a job he truly loved and had a passion for. Blake was a volunteer fire fighter for the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting and spending time with his friends.

Blake will be deeply missed by his parents, Mike and Jenel Schartner of Brussels; brother, Beau Schartner (Montana Grabowsky) of Brussels; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Bonnie Schartner of Brussels; maternal grandparents, Donald and Germaine Routhieaux of Sturgeon Bay; God parents, Dan Schartner and Julie Routhieaux; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Robert Ruck.

Blake’s life will be honored with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. For those in attendance for the visitation and/or Mass, masks and social distancing are required.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
