Obituary: Bryan Gilbert Follingstad

Bryan Gilbert Follingstad, 56, of Sturgeon Bay, died at Scandia Village on March 25, 2017.

Bryan  was born to Genevieve and Donald Follingstad on March 14, 1961 in Atlanta, Ga.  The family moved that same year to Owatonna, MN where Bryan spent his elementary and high school years. Following his HS graduation, Bryan attended  Mankato State University and Austin Vocational Technical Institute where he acquired the carpentry skills he used throughout his working career. Bryan moved to Door County in 1986.  He married Sherry Wilson in 1992 in the gazebo at his grandparents’ home (which is now the Wickman House). They were blessed with Sherry’s son, Jeremy Covelli, and three daughters; Rachel born Sept. 22, 1999, and twins Kayla & Krista born July 27, 2001.

Music was always important in Bryan’s life. In high school he played trombone in the band and orchestra, and the sang in the Owatonna High School Choir.  While at Mankato State, Bryan sang in the choir (and toured  the Scandinavian countries).  After moving to Door County, he sang with “The Doormen” and choir at  Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church.

Bryan had a deep and abiding faith which he passed on to his daughters. He was a faithful Packer Backer, and devoted father who attended and supported all of his children’s activities.

Bryan will be deeply missed by his three daughters; Rachel, Kayla, and Krista, Jeremy Covelli, their mother Sherry, Bryan’s mother Gen Follingstad, sister Deonn Cicak, brother Mark Follingstad, and many relatives and friends.

Bryan was preceded in death by his grandparents and father Donald Follingstad.

Funeral Services held on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 11 am at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay, WI. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of service on Saturday at the church.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that Memorials may be given to Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in his memory to the Youth Group, Scholarship Fund, or Music Program at the Church.
