Obituary: Captain Brock “Soap” McArdle

Oct. 27, 1993 – June 21, 2024

Captain Brock “Soap” McArdle, 30, of Anchorage, Alaska and formerly of Sturgeon Bay passed away on June 21, 2024, in Alaska. He was born Oct. 27, 1993, in Green Bay to Jerry and Terri (Seiler) McArdle.

After graduating from Southern Door High School in 2012, Brock enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training, he graduated the Munitions Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas and then was assigned to Misawa Air Base in Japan. While in Japan, he was selected to the Leaders Encouraging Airman Development program to the United States Air Force Academy.

Captain McArdle received his commission upon graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 2020, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geospatial Science. He completed Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training as a Distinguished Graduate at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi in May 2022 and F-22 Basic Qualification Training Course at Langley AFB in Virginia in 2023. He was then assigned to the 90th Fighter Squadron at JBER, where he completed his Mission Qualification Training before deploying to the USIN-DOPACIFIC area of responsibility in support of the 3rd Wing’s largest annual Exercise AGILE REPAPER. Capt. McArdle was a pilot with over 275 flying hours in the F-22A, T-38C and T-6A. Just before he passed, he received his pilot call sign as “Soap”.

Brock loved being in the Air Force and was thrilled to achieve his childhood dream of becoming a pilot. During his career, he was recognized with numerous awards, decorations and promotions. He was admired and respected by his fellow servicemen and was known as a humble and happy man who always encouraged others with a smile and kind words.

As an avid outdoorsmen, Brock loved fishing, snowmobiling and skiing. He especially enjoyed those activities while being stationed in Alaska.

He is survived by his parents, siblings, Kristin (Cho) Phasavath of Santa Monica, California; Brandon (Kelly) McArdle of Price, Utah; and Bryce (Olivia) McArdle of Royersford, Pennsylvania; very special friend Denise Gallant; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister Megan McArdle.

Friends may visit Brock’s family at the Forbes Funeral Home on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. On Saturday, July 20, 2024, a public memorial service with military honors and a fly over by the Air Force will be conducted at 11 am at the residence of Keitha and Michael (Mac) McDonald at 3522 N. Stevenson Pier Rd. Sturgeon Bay, 54235. A reception will follow the ceremony.
