Obituary: Carol Lynne (Ramsey) Crofoot

June 29, 1935 ~ April 28, 2022

Carol Lynne Crofoot (Ramsey), 86, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, formerly of Elk Grove Village, IL, died on April 28, 2022 at her home from natural causes.

Carol was born on June 29, 1935, in Evanston, IL, daughter of the late Thomas Frank Ramsey Jr. and Frances Irene Funk. After graduating in 1953 from Maine Township East High School, she went on to study nursing at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s. After graduation from Presbyterian-St. Luke’s School of Nursing, she landed her first job as a staff nurse in the Medical/Surgical Unit at Lutheran General Hospital. Carol then went and worked at Northwest Community Hospital in the OB Department for 22 years until retirement in December 1994.

Carol loved and supported her children and their ambitions. She was also a passionate traveler and loved to integrate family excursions into history lessons. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her vegetable or flower gardens practicing her guided love. We will miss her greatly.

She is survived by son, David (Suzanne) and granddaughter, (Allison); daughter, Lynn; and son, Michael (Karen).

Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Irene Funk; father, Thomas Franklin Ramsey, Jr.; and sister, Shirley Anne Ramsey Johnson.

In honor of Carol’s wishes, no formal services will be held. The family cordially invites donations to be made in Carol’s name to the Wisconsin Humane Society – Door County Campus.
