Obituary: Charlene “Char” E. Corcoran

June 10, 1947 ~ July 7, 2021

Char E. Corcoran, 74, of County Rd. DK, Sturgeon Bay died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital where she had been admitted one week ago after suffering a devastating stroke at home.

She was born June 10, 1947 in Brussels, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Mallien) Rankin. Char graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1965 and started working for Thorpe Financial on the West Side. On August 16, 1969, she married Charles “Charlie” M. Corcoran at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. She and Charlie own and operate Corcoran Marine south of Sturgeon Bay on Hwy. 42-57 for over 40 years.

Char was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood and the Christian Mothers. Char enjoyed reading, camping, boating, collecting odd yard art and naming them. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh but most importantly loved being a devoted wife and partner to Charlie, mom to Todd and Wendy and grandma to Colton and Connor. She was a strong, determined woman who was fun loving, energetic, eternally positive and willing to help others. Even though Char had a difficult battle with cancer these past four years, she never lost those afore mentioned traits through all the uncertainty and painful treatments.

Her family includes her husband, Charlie, two children, Todd (Tonya) Corcoran of Green Bay, Wendy Corcoran of Sturgeon Bay; grandsons, Colton and Conner; mother, Emma Hayot; and sister, Charlotte Lenius of Sturgeon Bay.

Preceding her in death were her father and step-father, Louis Rankin and Auguste Hayot; infant child, Kurt Charles Corcoran; brother-in-law, Dale Lenius; her in-laws, Lawrence and MaryAnn Corcoran.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Fr. Ryan Krueger, Fr. Anthony Birdsall and Deacon Mark Hibbs officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
