Obituary: Cheryl Cizek

November 17, 1948~May 10, 2021

On May 10, 2021, Cheryl Cizek died at home with her family by her side.  Cheryl was born in Oak Park, IL on November 17, 1948, the first of four children born to Glen and Muriel Seegers. 

Cheryl graduated in 1966 from Glenbard East High School in Lombard, IL.  After high school, Cheryl attended University of Wisconsin Stout and graduated with a major in Fashion Merchandising. Cheryl worked at Marshall Fields after college and during that time met her husband, Jerry Cizek, on a blind date. Cheryl and Jerry wed on February 24, 1972 in a small ceremony. They had three children together who they raised in Glen Ellyn, IL.

While growing up, Cheryl’s summers were spent in Door County, Wisconsin. Her grandparents owned a resort and her parents had a summer home there. During her college years, Cheryl worked in Door County over the summer months. When Cheryl had her own family, they also spent summers in Door County and created many precious memories there over the years. 

Always athletic, Cheryl played tennis as a teenager, then became an avid racquetball player and finally a fierce pickleball competitor.  She also played in golf leagues at Peninsula State Park and Maxwelton Braes. 

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Jerry; three children, Stacey (Joseph) Zydlo, Lauren Cizek and Jerry Cizek IV; grandchildren, Brandon Cizek, Isabella Sutch, Joey, Jonny and Jimmy Zydlo; father, Glen Seegers; siblings, Marcia (Michael) Hosni, Karen (William) Reifsnyder and Dale (Cynde) Seegers and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Muriel Seegers.

On June 5, 2021, open visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm at First Church of Lombard (220 S Main Street, Lombard IL). A memorial service will follow at 12:00pm.
