Obituary: Corinne O. Carr-LeBlanc

January 23, 1926 ~ March 21, 2022

Corinne O. Carr-LeBlanc, 96, of the Town of Nasewaupee, died Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing and Hospice Care Center in Sturgeon Bay with her children at her side.

She was born January 23, 1926, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Georges and Edna (Gauvin) LeBlanc. Her father died when Corinne was 10 years old. As the oldest of five children, following her 8th grade education, Corinne worked full time to help support the family. At the age 18 years, she immigrated to the United States for work to send money home to help support the family. She would meet her future husband, Chester T. Carr, Jr. while working at the Waltham Watch Factory. She became a naturalized citizen just prior to their marriage on June 27, 1948, in Waltham, MA. He preceded her in death July 12, 1980.

They had purchased a home in California where they planned to retire and after his death; Corinne lived out the dream they had. She moved to their property in California, living there for 25 years where she enjoyed much sunshine, ocean sunsets and travel. While in California, she donated her time at Oceanside Senior Center caring for others and organizing senior dances and travel events. She was hard working and instilled in her children to love people above all things. Despite her father dying when she was 10, living her youth through the great depression, then WWII, and the loss of her daughter, Susan in 2019, Corinne was a survivor. Corinne was friendly and kind, and whose faith and family were most important to her. Her enjoyment of music and exercise was expressed through her love of dancing which she shared with her two husbands, children and friends. She faced adversity with perseverance and strength, teaching those who knew her love, generosity and humility and lived life with humor and grace.

She was blessed to find another partner and married Albert J. LeBlanc on May 17, 1994. She became a loving stepmother to his four children and their spouses. She spent many holidays and special events with his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2016.

Surviving family include her two children, Diane Rose (Lee H. Straate) Carr of Sturgeon Bay, David Theodore (Diane M. Passerello) Carr of Waltham, MA; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Benjamin (Claire), Laura, Carl, Brandon (Elyse), Adam, Rachel, Krystal; sister, Ruth Varley of Framingham, MA; sister-in-law, Noreen LeBlanc of Winter Haven, FL; many nieces and nephews and their families; and Albert’s family.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, Chester and Albert; daughter, Susan L. (Edward) Kaupelis; two brothers, Lloyd LeBlanc and George LeBlanc; and sister, Dorice (LeBlanc) LeBlanc.

Corinne will be laid to rest at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham, MA with her husband, Chester, and her daughter, Susan. Family services will be held later this year.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Corinne’s name to Pete and Jelaine Horton Skilled Nursing and Hospice Care Center (c/o Resident Activity Program, 323 S 18th Ave, Sturgeon Bay WI 54235).
