Obituary: Daniel T. Moeller

Aug. 22, 1945 – Feb. 25, 2022

Daniel T. Moeller, 76, of Whitefish Bay, Door County, died at his home after suffering apparent heart failure.

He was born in Sturgeon Bay to Earl and Danica (Pejnovich) Moeller. In 1964, Dan graduated from Sevastopol High School, where he lettered in four sports as a sophomore. His records in track stood for many years, with some that still may stand. He served his country, 1967-69, including a combat tour in Vietnam.

He worked for Ryerson Inland Steel and later Cooper Industries, where they made large outdoor transformers. He retired from Cooper in 2007. On September 18, 2006, he married Batia Meitar in Elko, Nevada, and in 2007, they moved back to his family’s home, where he was raised, on Moeller Drive at Whitefish Bay.

Dan enjoyed welding art pieces, was accomplished at stone masonry and created three fireplaces. He was active with the The BlackHorse Army Veterans and attended yearly reunions with his band of brothers. He was also a member of the Whitefish Bay Homeowners Association. Dan was an avid boater with a slip at Port Washington over the years and in Door County. He read Mother Earth News and enjoyed trying his hand at carpentry projects. Dan was very interested in flying and attended many EAA conventions.

Survivors include his wife Batia, of Whitefish Bay; brother, James (Jane) Moeller, of Bayfield, Wisconsin; three stepchildren; six grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Rosanna; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl, and Danica Moeller; wife Mary; son, Mark; and sister, Kathleen Brauer.

A funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday, May 14, 11 am, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Visitation will precede, 9:30-11 am. Burial will take place this week at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol on his family lot.
