Obituary: Danny Wallace Shuler

July 20, 1947 ~ June 26, 2021

Danny Wallace Shuler, 73, of Sturgeon Bay, died on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Door County Medical Center.

He was born July 20, 1947 in Rankin, Illinois, son of the late William Bartlett and Nina Grace (Hurley) Shuler. After graduating from Rankin High School with the Class of 1965, he began working as a depot agent for Norfolk and Western Railway. In 1975, Danny purchased Uptown Bar and Grill in Fowler, Indiana, where he met his future wife, Pamela Lee (Stiff). On January 13, 1987, Pam and Danny were united in marriage in New Port Richie, Florida. In 1991, they sold the bar and moved to Door County. They managed Quietwoods South Camping Resort for two summers. Danny worked as a CNC programmer and operator for Emerson Motor Company for five years.   He then worked at N.E.W. Industries for 13 years before his retirement in 2012. Danny enjoyed playing chess, listening to 60s music, and traveling, whether by boat, motorcycle, or RV.

Danny will be missed by his beloved wife of 34 years, Pam; stepson, Robert (Jackie) Bowman Jr.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Nina Shuler; stepson, Craig Bowman; and brothers, Lonnie and Larry Shuler.

In honor of Danny’s wishes, no formal services will be held.

His family extends a heartfelt and appreciative thanks to the Door County Medical Center Emergency Department and 2nd Floor Nursing Staff, as well as Unity Hospice for their tender care, compassion, and support during the last week.
