Obituary: Dean W. Johnson

March 3, 1940 ~ December 5, 2020

Dean W. Johnson, a loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the age of 80.

He was born on March 3, 1940 to the late Werner and Edna (Bahlert) Johnson of Gills Rock. Dean graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1958. He married Lois Landstrom in 1962. They welcomed two daughters – Melissa and Melanie. Dean and Lois owned Johnson Mobil Service in Ellison Bay for many years and later, Johnson Oil Company.

Dean had many interests and hobbies, including old cars, motorcycles, racing and antiquing. He enjoyed vacationing in Wisconsin Dells and Branson, Missouri and never missed attending the Iola car show.  He also enjoyed preserving local history. He was a member of Sister Bay Liberty Grove Fire Department from 1961-1981. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandson, Jeremy.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughters, Melissa (Kevin) Buman, Melanie Johnson; and grandson, Jeremy Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna.

At Dean’s request, there will be no service and please, no memorial contributions.
