Obituary: Deborah J. Petry

After years of courageously battling multiple health issues, Deborah Joan Petry, 64 of Sturgeon Bay passed away at Golden Living Center on November 13, 2015. She was born February 23, 1951 in Champaign, Illinois the daughter of Patricia Petry and the late Paul Petry. She graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1969.

Debbie worked at The Petry Place Motel in Baileys Harbor for 24 years and several years at the Door County Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed the wildflowers, sunsets, water views and most of all her good friends. Her father and daughter Marcella preceded her in death.

Deborah will be deeply missed by her loving partner of 22 years, John “Russian” Babich, her mother, and her seven siblings: Pamela Ek, Nancy Hursey, Michael Petry, Jim (Lori) Petry, Polly (John) Hill, Jennifer (Jim) Berns, and Stacy West. Additionally she has eight nieces and eleven nephews who will miss Aunt Debbie’s warm smile.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the loving and attentive care provided over the years by Dr. Richard Hogan, the nursing staff of Door County Memorial Ministry Hospital, her caregivers Polly, Celeste and Amanda of Specialized Services, and long time friends Barb and Lisa.

An open house celebration of Debbie’s life will be held Saturday November 21st at the Community Room of the Bay View Terrace Apartments at 529 S Neenah St in Sturgeon Bay from 1:00 P.M.-3:00P.M.

A visitation will be held on December 5th in Champaign, Illinois at Morgan Memorial Home from 12:00 Noon-2:00P.M. followed by a burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Memorials may be given to Ministry Fund – MDCMC – 323 S. 18th Ave. – Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235
