Obituary: Debra “Debbie” Lynn (Graf) Berger

July 25, 1958 ~ August 21, 2021

Debra “Debbie” Lynn Berger, 63, of the Town of Clay Banks, died Saturday night, August 21, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

She was born July 25, 1958 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Francis “Fritz” Paul Graf and Evelyn Mary (Raynier) Graf. Debbie grew up attending St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay and went on to attend Sturgeon Bay High School. Her first job was working for her parents at Clark Gas Station on Michigan Street. Debbie worked at Wood Orchard before Curly’s Cleaners and then Prange Way in the 1990s. She eventually cleaned homes on her own before returning to Curly’s. On May 18, 1997, Debbie went to work for Hatco as an assembly worker and remained there for 21 years until her retirement on December 18, 2018.

She met Robert Clinton Berger at the Greystone Castle in Sturgeon Bay, and together they enjoyed their first date at the Door County Fair. Debbie was united in marriage to Bob on May 29, 1999 at Shiloh Moravian Church in the Town of Sturgeon Bay.

She loved watching the birds from her patio, especially the hummingbirds and cardinals. The cardinals brought Debbie a lot of comfort, as she believed they were relatives (who had passed) who came to visit. Her family meant everything to her. Those who knew and loved Debbie knew that she was a strong, sometimes bullheaded person with no filter. She was a tough person and had battled cancer twice.

Debbie will be missed by her husband, Bob, with whom she shared over 22 years of marriage with; her two children, Shawn (Jessie Allen) LeMieux I and Melissa Gabert, both of Sturgeon Bay; ten grandchildren, Shawn (Mariah Aubrey) LeMieux II, Tailyn (Koko Hartzell) LeMieux, Aydan McCambridge, Makiala McCambridge, Tiani LeMieux, and Takoda LeMieux, Helana Zelnik, Jullian Longley, Leilani Longley, and Kai Longley; one great-grandson, Amaro LeMieux; sister, Sherry Graf of Sturgeon Bay; siblings-in-law, Nancy Anschutz of the Town of Clay Banks and Diane Berger of Hibbings, MN; other relatives; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beverly (Don) Raymond; brother-in-law, Dan Anscutz; and other relatives.

Debbie’s life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Robert Stegmann as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with a parish wake service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church, Saturday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m.
