Obituary: Debra Lynn Polster

Debra Lynn Polster, 60, of Sturgeon Bay unexpectedly died in her home in the town of Gardner on October 21, 2016.  She was born August 21, 1956 in Alabama to John and Ruby (Smith) Calhoun.  On June 18, 1977, she married Peter David Polster of Sturgeon Bay.

Debra had a brilliant mind and higher education was significant to her. She was a proud high honors graduate of the social work program at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and spent time working in the field in the therapist-social work role(s) for Door County and Bellin Psychiatric Center.  Through her work, she helped an endless number of people. She loved her family very much and her grandchildren meant the world to her. She would often tell them, “Remember that Grandma Loves You Always!” Debra enjoyed history and spent time discovering family tree lines through ancestry.

Survivors include her husband Peter; two children, Robert (Amy) Polster, Luxemburg; Angela Polster (Jesus Jimenez), Tlaxcala, Mexico; five grandchildren, Riley and Lexi Polster; Eric, Malintzi and Sofia Polster-Jimenez; her mother, Ruby Lee Redford, two sisters, Colleen Calhoun and Rosa (James) Lami, all of Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her father and brother Dwayne.

A memorial mass will be conducted at 11 am on Oct. 29 at Corpus Christi Church with the Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating.  Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm and on Saturday from 10 am until the time of services.  A prayer service is scheduled for 7 pm on Friday at the funeral home.  The family of Debra Polster would like to thank everyone for illuminating light of prayer, love, and support during this challenging time.
